I believe that simple is sweet. And by that I mean that it’s cool, fab, apropos and the way to go, at least most days. Take these deep navy blue menswear-inspired women’s trousers and crisp white shift top, both from Zara. They are about as simple as you can get but their combined minimalism has maximum impact, plus it’s working for me as I promenade along the boulevards of Paris. Coco Chanel famously said, “When accessorizing, always take off the last thing you put on.” Or, you could put fewer things on to begin with. Just a thought.

I’m writing this post from Paris. In our rented pied-a-terre, currently snoozing after a full day of crepe and art hunting, are my husband and our two daughters, aka, the loves of my life. And as an added bonus, one of my very best friends in all the world is also with us. All of this has gotten me feeling pretty grateful. I am grateful for this lace dress, a Valentino meets Dolce & Gabbana by way of Zara blue maxi, and for my oldest daughter who, alongside a chorus of loving voices, insisted I shoot a look or two for this blog while in the City of Light (and then took the reigns again and acted as my photographer) when my martyr-half thought maybe I’d let it slide. I love dresses. They are the original one-and-done dressing solution. And they are my go-to whenever I’ve got some celebrating to do, or some heels to kick up. Perhaps you can tell by the extra bounce in my step that something is afoot (pun decidedly intended). Yes, by the time you read this I will be winging my way to the City of Light anticipating ten days in gai Paris with my three best baes (handsome hubby and two delicious and delightful daughters).
