I am not a hoarder. But, I rarely get rid of any of my clothes. I know some live by the adage, “Out with the old, in with the new,” and it’s likely their closets look way better than mine, but, I just can’t seem to part with any of my loves. Take this Dolce & Gabbana body suit. I scooped it from my dear friend Debi Mazar’s amazing closet. I don’t think I’ve ever worn it before this moment, but I’ve lovingly housed it in my wardrobe for nearly six years. True love never dies dontcha know. Now these shorts? They are new loves. Black suede, high waist goodness from Bohemian Society. Slap on a pair of strappy heels and I’m good to go. As we dive headlong into 2016, a bit of advice… shiny new toys (aka accessories, and clothes of every shape and stripe) are exciting, and may, for a time, turn your attention away from your tried and true. But the old faithfuls, the foundations of our sartorial lives, should be treasured and nurtured. (Am I the only one to whom this sounds like relationship advice? But I digress…) The commingling of old and new is the path to a truly great closet. Where to put it all? Well, I’m still trying to sort that one out.
With love,
Amanda
