A Little Fringe

When I’m wearing something with fringe, I can’t be overly serious. I just can’t. It’s too playful, too symbolic of the bohemian lifestyle which calls forth a certain élan and freedom of spirit. And that is awesome! I could use a little more laissez faire in my repertoire and these shoes are a step in the right direction. I’ve paired them with a fuzzy jacket for a little glam and a faded black skinny jean for a little edge. Et voila. I’m feeling in the groove.

Coachella on My Mind

Coachella is still weeks away, but if you’re planning on going, then you’ve probably already started thinking about your festival wardrobe. And even if you’re not planning on going but are a follower of pop culture, and a reader of fashion blogs, you probably are beginning to hear rumblings about it too. So whether you’re dressing for your moment in Indio, or dressing in homage, here’s a little inspo to get your sartorial juices flowing.

Dressing for the hot weather is key, and looking cute is a must, but there is life beyond fringe and overly literal bohemian looks. This lace-back, faux suede dress would be right at home out standing in a field with a pair of flat sandals and a drink in hand, but it also works for those celebrating the festivities from their home court. I paired it with a wooden soled heel, a faux suede bag, loose hair, and an I’m-with-the-band attitude. And you can too.

Easy Breezy

Some days you just want things to be easy. Maybe you were out late the night before partying, (Ha! As if! Sorry, mom perspective creeping in…), or you were up into the wee hours working (that’s more like it…), or maybe you’re just not in the mood. On these days, it’s great to have a go-to get up that makes you feel spot on, in spite of it all. This little romper from Forever 21 does it for me. Folded (or crumpled) it fits into the palm of my hand (with some overflow), but unfurled it’s a one and done wonder. Add to it an oversized bag to house all my odds and sods, a flat sandal to appease my feet, and voila! Easy, breezy, beautiful, actual complex person.
