The Band T-Shirt

The band t-shirt, once the exclusive wardrobe staple of groupies and devoted fans, and later a veritable flag of cool girl status, has, this season, become a trend for all to embrace. Some of the less risk-averse fashion media have even suggested wearing it under a suit for an office-ready look. Now I have to admit that my husband is the real cool-factor behind the trendy ensemble pictured here. The t-shirt belongs to him, and his concession to let me wear this well-worn bit of vintage goodness, came with the caveat that I, “Please be gentle with her.” Spoken like a true believer. Now I don’t know much about The Replacements (this is a clear sign that I am actually not cool), but I do know that when I put on this shirt, I feel infinitely cooler. It’s a real thing people! These shirts have power. So whether or not you’re with the band, this is an easy trend worth embracing. And who knows, you just might discover some new music along the way.

With Love,

Amanda

High-Waisted Shorts and a Leopard Print Bag

So I know we’re all about Fall because, well, it’s September, but, it’s also still hot outside. So I’ve decided to wear this “transitional” look. Victoriana is all the rage for Fall. Think high necklines and billowing sleeves. And denim shorts are a perennial summer fave. I’ve accessorized with a Fall-ready, leopard print, pony hair bag and my favorite Dolce Vita booties, et voila! I’m walking the line between the summer that lingers and the Fall that beckons.

With love,

Amanda

Fashion Education

The kids went back to school today. So I did too. Sort of. NYFW is in full swing which means fashion month is upon us, and I’m devouring all of it. I’m reading, watching, looking ahead and digging through my archives. Inspiration is everywhere and I’m all abuzz with the promise of the season. The look I’m wearing here gives a nod to a Fall trend that’s currently capturing our collective imaginations. Unpredictable pairings. Whether you choose to wear a pink puffa jacket with a voluminous emerald green ballgown or, as I did here, mix prints, patterns and colors in more subtle ways, it’s a trend that’s all about breaking the rules. But on the first day of school? Why not?

With love,

Amanda
