Denim Devotion

If you’re anything like me, you probably own more than a few pairs of jeans. Skinnies and flares, distressed and boyfriend, high waisted and low slung. Just when you think you’ve got every possible trend covered, along comes another take on the denim staple. Enter the staggered, or step-hemmed, raw-edged cropped jean. We first started seeing this denim incarnation a couple of years ago and now it seems everyone and their mother has adopted the trend. In fact, the brand Mother seems to be cornering the cool-girl market with fans including Miranda Kerr and Gigi and Bella Hadid wearing their ankle baring, frayed pants all over the globe. But they’re not the only brand jumping into the fray. Here I’m wearing a stellar option from Frame. I’ve paired mine with a mustard yellow pseudo-varsity sweater (a gift I received from ModCloth after a fun shared TV moment), and a spring-ready ankle boot from Jerome C. Rousseau. A word to the wise, this denim shape, especially if it has a little flare, could make you look inches shorter, so proceed with caution. But do slip into a favorite pair of blues, whether new or old, ’cause there’s nothing better.

With love,

Amanda

As Good As Gold

What’s next? It’s a question we are always asking in fashion-y circles. What’s the next trend, it-designer, can’t-miss collection, impossible-to-get but must-have piece? The answers are ever-changing and sometimes elusive (kind of like life, no?), but that doesn’t mean we stop chasing them. So for all you die-hards out there, here’s a trend to love. Metallics. Liquid gold, or silver, chain metal especially, however you forge your shimmery look this season make this your new trend-to-try. I dug into my newly-edited closet for this little gem. I first wore it to Paris Fashion Week a zillion seasons ago, I think to an after party at the Hemingway Bar at the Hotel Ritz. It was a solid win then and here it’s still serving me well. So take a cue from me, or maybe, for a gentler entrée, Pat McGrath, aka world’s most worthy makeup guru (I bow down), and go for gold.

With love,

Amanda
