Is it provocative of me to say that I am inspired by a one multi-talented, high flying, super cutie named Taylor Swift? Now let’s be clear, I don’t aspire to live her same life O’Reilly (fat chance anyway, right?!), nor do I think she’s without fault (she’s human, hallelujah!), but I do think she writes beautiful music from the heart and she’s out there in the world kicking a@# and taking numbers. Go girl power! I also like to see what she wears as she parades down red carpets and through glossy magazines, and lately I’ve been seeing pics of her traipsing all over NYC in crop tops and little skirts. Et voila! Just like that I’m inspired to try the same. Would I come a step closer to her playful persona if I dress like the country/pop crossover superstar? The answer? A resounding yes! Here I’m wearing a blue lace crop top from Topshop with a black mini skirt, Dolce Vita booties and a little black rubber bracelet I picked up at a Valentino party once upon a long time ago. It’s a win! And thus, giving me still another reason to admire the girl with a thousand lyricized heartbreaks and the world at her feet.

Shift Dress Shifting Tides
I’m wearing a shift dress in honor of the shifting tides in America. More specifically, in honor of the Supreme Court decision to legalize gay marriage across the nation, declaring with a booming voice heard from sea to shining sea that love is love. With that bold act, many long years in the making, this here world got a little kinder, and lord knows we needed some good news. I’ve been “liking” pictures on social media of my same sex coupled friends and celebrating with them this hard won victory. Do I feel a little less cool today because I’m not gay? A little left out because there are no photos of me kissing a girl and liking it? You bet. But I’m happy to cheer from my hetero sidelines while all my gay besties revel in their deserved spotlight. Truth be known they’ve always been cooler than me anyway. But hey, I’ve got this blue shift dress! All the rage this season dontcha know. As ever and always, I ground myself and express myself through fashion. This dress feels light and playful, just like my heart on this historic occasion. #LoveWins.
With love,
Amanda
Military Shirt Civilian Short
Ok it’s a painterly top that’s cropped in the back and knotted in the front, therefore no one on active duty in the military would ever wear it, but, some of the details are in homage. Take the shoulder epaulets and the front patch pockets. Um, alright, that’s where the similarities end. But there is still so much to love! For example, when I wear this I feel like an artist, or an artist’s girlfriend who got covered in paint while…ehm, helping her boyfriend with his latest canvas. Let your imaginations run wild. I know I do! And the denim short, well, by now you know I love them. As soon as the weather warms enough, you’ll find me traipsing all over LA in these little numbers. At least while the sun is still up. At night, that’s a whole different ballgame. The black hobo bag with the gold tassels takes the look down the road Luxe, and the Dolce Vita sandals add a level of sophistication. How would you wear this shirt??
